Covid-19 pandemic brings worldwide phenomenon series of action to tackle with in order for the human being to keep survive. The actions become the new habit known as ‘THE NEW NORMAL’. One of its applications that probably the most popular is ‘Physical Distancing’.
Differs from other New Normal habits such as ‘Wear Masker’ & ‘Wash Your Hand’ that could be applied individually, 'Physical Distancing' needs mutual action of the communities.
Physically, it generates physical huge empty spaces on the public social spaces on this new normality. While on the 'Old Normal' table of four should be served for four people, on this 'New Normal', it could only serve two people. While on the other hand, we have short of spaces to handle the pandemic consequences, such as hospital beds, quarantine rooms, as well as cemeteries are for the death tolls, this new space of ‘physical distancing’ feels creating a paradox in space usages. The New Normal ‘Physical Distancing’ delivers a new creative challenge to make the most of the new empty spaces created useful while keeping the health, safety, and emergency regulations applied.
Rather than approaching this New Normal challenge of emerging ‘New Space’ negatively as ‘space waste’, let us embrace it positively as new hopes and new opportunities, with good intentions, broad imaginations, and collaborative spirit, could convert this rising problem into opportunities, and unleash the new normal betterment horizon, not just for the people, but also for the planet.
