Songket (Three-dimensional artwork product)
This artwork is a three-dimensional work consisting of four layers of acrylic board, executed using three different techniques, which are printing, laser cutting, and laser printing. Each technique used to creates different results in texture and visual results. The reason for using the laser printing technique in the artwork is because the laser printing technique could produce a texture on an acrylic board that can resemble the texture of songket fabric. While the use of laser cutting on the words "Songket" is used to get three-dimensional results on the words "Songket". Each layer has its own meaning in this work.
The pattern of the Songket arranged alternately between two layers of acrylic boards which symbolizes the way songket is made, which is the "to hook and pick some thread" or known as tenun process.
The gold color in the font symbolizes the gold thread used in the Palembang songket.
The following works may change color from dark blue to purple when illuminated/lighted from the back. This color change symbolizes the songket as the light of the life of craftsmen life.
