In this two-dimensional installation, nature speaks through form: leaves as the breath of life, and the on/off switch as a metaphor for awareness. Do we choose to step into the light, or drift into the shadows? Life is not merely a passage, but a decision to be present. To ignite the self, or dim its meaning. Each moment is a switch, each choice—light or shade.

In this evocative photograph, light pours through a carved oculus, piercing the darkness of the stone chamber with a divine clarity. This beam of light transcends mere illumination, symbolising spiritual enlightenment and penetrating the soul. The elaborate bas-reliefs illustrate lions flanking an eagle, a design abundant in symbolism. The eagle, frequently symbolising divine truth or Christ, is protected by lions, historical symbols of strength and resurrection. Collectively, they constitute a triad of authority, wisdom, and safeguarding. On the right, a meticulously sculpted cross, encircled by perpetual knot motifs, emanates a quiet authority — a visual theology that intertwines the earthly with the divine. This sacred geometry, along with the interaction of shadow and light, embodies a belief system wherein genuine comprehension exists not solely in illumination, but in revelation – a moment when the physical and spiritual intersect beyond visual perception.

“Lucent” explores the intersection of human identity and digital immersion, where light becomes both medium and metaphor. The figures—one in futuristic gear, the other in a VR headset—embody the tension between physical presence and virtual experience, while vibrant streaks of color suggest motion, data, and imagination. Through this fusion of clarity and distortion, the work reflects on how technology continually reshapes perception and the boundaries of reality.

From a scientific perspective, light manifests as both particles (photons) and waves, forming the basis of various fields in physics. Yet, in the humanities, light has become a universal symbol for enlightenment and wisdom, profoundly shaping human thought.

Pattern #1 examines the structural relationship between light and shadow. Variations in illumination produce shifting geometrical shadows, demonstrating how changes in light intensity and angle directly affect spatial perception. The work highlights the interdependence of light and its absence, presenting shadow as an active element in the formation of visual patterns.
